Reading and Pizza!

Hello everyone,

You may have noticed that a reading log was sent home yesterday. This log goes along with our exciting reading program through Pizza 73! When students read 10 books at home, they will get a coupon for a free personal pizza. Students may earn one coupon per school year. We have talked a lot in class about making sure to choose "Good Fit" books that will challenge students and help grow their reading. Please see your email for more exciting details.

Also, a reminder that we have important days coming up:

Tomorrow, November 30 - Hot Lunch orders for December AND January are due
Tomorrow, November 30 - Movember - Wear a mustache and feel free to bring a cash donation in support of men's health.

Friday, December 1 - No School!

December 18 - Scholastic Orders Due

Pop-Can Dragsters!

We had a real success making our pop-can dragsters in our Wheels and Levers unit in Science. There were lots of learning opportunities as we found out what did and did not work while making the dragsters (and fixing ones that broke)! We had a great time racing the dragsters and are looking forward to adding wheels to them tomorrow!

What We're Learning and Important Dates

Hello everyone!

Some important dates coming up include:

Early Dismissal - Wednesday, November 8
Remembrance Day Ceremony - Friday, November 10 @10:30 a.m.
Mid-Term Break - No School on Monday, November 13
Christmas Card Orders Due -  Thursday, November 16

We are learning some exciting things this month!

Language Arts
We have finished reading Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes as a class and will continue on with independent reading.

We have wrapped up our Halloween narratives and will focus on writing letters and persuasive writing in November.

Math
Having finished up our first Number Sense unit, we have launched our Patterns and Relations unit. This will be an exciting unit where students learn how to identify patterns and relations, and solve problems through them.

We will continue with Kicking It for our basic facts practice. I encourage you to continue practicing these facts at home.

Social
Our Fossil Heritage unit is done and we have started to learn about Alberta's natural resources. This unit gives students the chance to explore how important natural resources are to a community and how they change the communities and economy.

Science
We have wrapped up our Waste and Our World Unit and are moving into learning about Wheels and Levers.

Have a great week!
