What Are We Learning & Milk/Popcorn

Hello everyone, and welcome back from the long weekend! September flew by, and we are well into October! Here's a little snippet of what we have been learning in 4SP:

Language Arts
We have been working on our Accuracy strategies through the Daily 5 and CAFE program. This involves helping the students learn how to read the words correctly.

We have finished Introduction to Me presentations and Thanksgiving writing. We will be moving into narrative writing this week!

Math
We are continuing through our Number Sense unit. The students have covered place value and are finishing addition and subtraction of 3 and 4 digit numbers. There will be a little quiz on addition and subtraction on Monday, and we will begin multiplication after that.

Science
In Science, we continue with our Waste and Our World unit. We have learned a lot about different types of waste, waste management (natural and man-made), biodegrading, and hazardous wastes. We will soon be focusing on the Rs of Reduce, Re-use, and Recycle.

Social
We have wrapped up our Sense of the Land unit where we focused on Alberta's natural regions. We are now beginning our unit on Alberta's Fossil History. If you have any neat fossils from Alberta that you would like to share with the class, please feel free to contact me.

Milk and Popcorn
Our milk and popcorn programs have now begun. If you would like to purchase milk cards for your child, you may do so on PowerSchool. Popcorn is available for your child to purchase for snack time every Wednesday. The cost is 50 cents per bag - cash only.

Halloween Walk
The permission form for our Halloween walk is available on PowerSchool. If you have not done so already, please fill that out.

Have a fantastic week!
